Today I Can't Complain...

...The weather is cool, not cold and the sun is making it's way through the clouds. The laundry is actually progressing. The baby boy is actually napping on schedule and I have some down time to myself. A blessing. I am grateful for days like today. And I am grateful that they aren't every day or every week. I have so much to be grateful for. Simple joys. Simply Grateful.

"The Mother's Mite"

The following is a story made by DeAnne Flynn told at a Time Out For Women in Ogden Utah. I didn't go there but I read about it here. I really liked the story so I thought I would share it with all my fellow mom bloggers.

It is a small take on the story of the widow's mite found in Mark 12:41-44. This is her version:
"And there came a certain weary woman, and she threw in two frozen pizzas, which made a meal. And she said , 'Eat it.' And her husband called their children saying 'our compassionate mother hath put more in the oven than you.' And they accepted of her offereing becasue they knew she had given it to them with all the energy she had left and thus providing for her family. And that very hour was indeed a mother's mite."

DeAnne Flynn goes on to talk about the importance of the little things mothers give admist so much around them. You can read the rest of the article here. She has also announced an initiative to recognize "The Mother's Mite" " as a place online where women can gather to share, to bolster one another's efforts, and to provide creative mothering ideas." This is found at MothersMite.com.

Religious Freedom

Here is a great link on Religious Freedom and what it is: "People of Faith Should Defend Freedom of Religion"

Elder Dallin H. Oaks, a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, is just the person to be discussing this subject: " Prior to his calling as an apostle in 1984, he served as a justice on the Utah Supreme Court from 1981–1984, as legal counsel to the Illinois Constitutional Convention Bill of Rights Committee in 1970, as a professor at theUniversity of Chicago Law School from 1961–1971, as law clerk to Chief Justice Earl Warren of the United States Supreme Court from 1957 to 1958, and as Editor-in-Chief of The University of Chicago Law Review from 1956–1957. He also served as Chairman of the Board of the Public Broadcasting Service from 1980–1985, as a board member from 1977–1985, and as president of Brigham Young University from 1971–1980."

I love a good consignment sale! Especially because our little boy decides to defy all reason and be a size ahead of his age. Here is a great link if you are curious about sales going on in your area: http://www.kidsconsignmentsales.com
