Officially the big 29...

It is official, as of yesterday I, Kara, turned 29 years old. I only feel old when my 15 year old( youngest) sister makes a point to point it out, but then I just turn around and ask my parents how it feels to have a 29 year old daughter. A good way to even it out I think:)
I have been thinking a lot about turning 29, maybe because it is the last year in my 20's... with plusses and negatives:) A while ago, I fell into the trap of comparison ( you know what had I really done in my 29 years etc.), and then I woke up and I finally realized that my life is very blessed. I am grateful for a loving God who guided my life and has blessed me with more than I could have ever dreamed of in the past 29 years. There are things I used to think I needed, wanted, wanted to do or have done by a certain time (my timeline of course.) And not only did a kind and loving, all-knowing Heavenly Father change some of that, but He blessed me with dreams fulfilled that I never thought to dream of.  I look forward to another 29 years ( at least) of not being in charge:) I do however hope that this coming 29 years will be a little bit wiser and not half as awkward as the first 29. ( Sorry, but middle school and high school, do not contain a lot of good memories for me.)
Yesterday was a treat: In the morning, I went over to my mom's and hung out with 2 of my amazing sisters. Bryan took off early from work and surprised me with a decorated kitchen, tulips and lilies            (favorite flowers) that he put together while I was having lunch with my mom. ( another special treat) He then took care of our little dude  for his nap. Then my mom came over and took care of our little dude ( while he napped and woke up) while we got to go to the movies! ( I can't even remember when the last time we went to the movie theatre was ( lets just say the little dude is not a fan.)We then came home, opened presents, had dinner and cake. My good friend Autumn also stopped by with a cupcake in a jar  (cutest ever). We ended the evening relaxing in front of the TV ( Yes, Bryan didn't have to study!!!) and enjoying a night of peaceful sleep as the little dude slept exceptionally well. I call that an AMAZING 29th Birthday!

Let the Birthday Fun Begin...

Well, the birthday wishes have begun....cards in the mail and a gift from my wonderful parents-in-laws. Let the birthday festivities begin!
On Saturday, I FINALLY got together with some old High School buddies at Ocharley's for lunch (Where we would always go to eat.) I felt my soon to come birthday was a good excuse to meet up and catch up for the past decade + of our lives. It was really fun to see them and enjoy each others company. Life has changed us to an extent, but there are still parts of us that are the same.
Then later that evening, My sister Kristin came over to man the fort while little dude slept and Bryan took me out for ice cream at Coldstone! Delectable!
On Sunday, after church, we went over to my parents home, where my mom made me taco chicken (my most favorite meal) for dinner. We then opened up some awesome presents and had some delicious cookie cake, decorated by 2 of my lovely sisters (thank you again for putting #29, not #30 on the cake: Katelyn and Kimberly:)) And yes for the record, I blew out all 29 candles in one blow:)
I'd say that it has been fun celebrating #29 ...and the best part is that there is more to come!

We survived!!!

Besides a very rainy/ stormy forecast the entire week, lots of Elmo and Barney(enough that tested my sanity level), and the blessing of Benedryl for better sleep... we survived! Our little guy is no longer contagious and there is a sunny forecast for the week! Also my sister Katelyn is finally out of the hospital, Bryan has tomorrow off for Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and we have a week full of fun activities to do. Much better week ahead:) I love having a happy healthy baby!

This might be a weary week...

... I know, I know we all individually control our attitudes and can thus control how we let things effect us. But I believe this week will probably most likely be a weary one. Case in point:
*Didn't go to church today= Sick baby boy
*Sick baby boy= Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease
*Hand, foot, and mouth disease= Viral Infection (very curable)
*Viral Infection (very curable)= Has to run its course 7-10 days
*Has to run its course 7-10 days= no medicine but tylenol will work
*No medicine but tylenol will work= Very fussy, tired, and miserable little dude
*Very fussy, tired, and miserable little dude= Not a lot of things we can do for fun
*Not a lot of things that we can do for fun= Tired and weary mom:)

We are on day three, I can tell the rash and blisters hurt my little dude. We didn't get much sleep at all in our house last night, And for the past three days I have gotten my fill of Elmo and Barney:)
Since I have been told this is a common infection for children, if any of my dear fellow mommy bloggers out there, have also experienced this, any help or ideas you could send my way would be most appreciated!!!!

Back in the Saddle again...

Well, it' s that time again.... Bryan starts another semester of school as well as mandatory overtime at work ( a blessing and a curse all at the same time: more money and further along with school= a plus, not having a husband Monday through Friday= a curse.) But it will be worth it in the end.
But a plus to all that is also craft nights for me:) when the little guy goes to sleep. All in all it works out, as it always does. It just requires some emotional preparation for the beginning of the semester in getting used to a entirely new schedule:)

Happy New Year!!!!

Well it is officially 2012! Each year seems to go by faster and faster, but I can't think of a better way to start it off but by having it on a Sunday and being able to go to Church. I have tried to make my new year's resolutions simpler, achievable, and easy to remember (instead of a long list, like usual:)) So here's hoping  to a Happy New Year to all of our dear friends and fellow bloggers!
