We are so excited because Bryan's parents, recently recieved an assignment to serve as missionaries for our church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Tampa, Florida!!!! They will be leaving to go to the Missionary Training Center on July 25th in Provo, Utah.
For those who may not know, the MTC , as we call it, is where all of the missionaries for our church, young and not so young go before they actually get to their mission destination. At the MTC missionaries are taught how to teach, how to improve people skills, and about the culture where they will be living. For those who are assigned to go to a foreign country the MTC is where they study hard and quickly to learn the language. Bryan and I both went to the MTC before we actually went to our assigned missions. Bryan was there for 2 weeks before he headed to New Mexico and I went there for 2 weeks and then was actually moved to the MTC in Lima, Peru for 6 more weeks to help with learning the spanish language and then I headed to Trujillo, Peru.
We are so excited for our parents and know that they will be able to help a lot of people. They are the type of people who are always lifting others and always willing to serve anyone at anytime. They will be amazing missionaries and examples of the ultimate missionary, our Savior Jesus Christ.
Long time....I know....
I have been trying newer hobbies lately....cooking. Or trying to find quick dinner meals that make me want to cook:) I have actually found some success.
I found a really good enchilada recipe that isn't all cream of chicken like. It has just the right amount of cream taste. They are called " Easy Chicken Enchiladas. "
I also found an amazing hamburger recipe with green chiles...Bryan's favorite vegetable:) They are rightfully called "Green Chile Burgers."
And for July 4thI found an easy berry pie that was dellicious. Here's the link.
And then finally, I found a pasta dish that wasn't creamy or with marinara that we think is awesome! Here's the link.

You probably want an update...
...but today is not that day. Today instead was a day worth just typing out, whether to let the words relieve me, or to just remind myself that tomorrow is a brand new day. If you are against women being completely honest you probably should stop reading this post. I am not the type of woman or mother who sugar coats things, albeit I do strive my hardest to see the positive in all situations. If you have no sympathy for a mother of just one child, don't read any further either, because that is one of my current but amazing blessings in life. Today was yet another wonderful day in the trenches of motherhood, but today the trenches were rather muddy, and constantly dirty:)
Today was full of more tantrums than desired and less sleep than was really needed:), but also more prayers and tears than can be counted. There were moments of "I love being a mother", but at times there was a lot more of "one is enough for me!" There were smiles and screams, nourishment and disaster, and comfort and pain; sometimes at exactly the same moment:) There were moments of "I know Bryan is wonderfully providing for our family, but I really wish he didn't have class tonight, and could just come home after work." There were moments where my only refuge was the bathroom for a few seconds of praying, but then lots of peace and strength byond my own regardless of what happened next. Then there was a moment where I fell asleep on the couch exhausted and I have no clue what my baby boy really did while I was sleeping:) There were moments of exasperation and smushed up bananas, and the joy of getting one load of laundry fully completed ( washed and folded and put away.) There was a moment of finally getting to eat lunch at 1:45 pm that was cherished. And I even got time to check the mail today:) There were also moments of complete gratitude for having family nearby, so that some since of sanity could be regained.
Those were my moments today. But you know what? I look forward to more moments tomorrow:) Because regardless of in the "not ideal" moments of my days, I wouldn't trade being a mother and having the amazing blessing of being able to stay at home with him and know that I am his mother and no one else is.

Life has been...
...well lately it has been a tad busy. So Happy Late Easter to everyone! We hope that all of you had a marvelous holiday:) We sure enjoyed ours.
We are in the process of getting ready to leave for Atlanta for the Cultural Celebration that the youth are participating in and for the temple dedication on Sunday. Bryan is also busily studying for finals that are next week. ( I can't wait until we are done with Economics and Statistics:) Our little guy is busily cruising everywhere ( yes we have rearranged furniture a few times now.) And he has taught us that it is possible to cruise on walls....I think that means walking is right around the corner, but with our little dude I think he just might skip walking and start running:) Maybe that is the key to fixing my thyroid weight issue after all!:) Well until next time....Have a wonderful week!

The Atlanta Temple Open House
We are approaching some exciting events this month, some of which have already begun! The Atlanta Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has been closed for over a year for some major renovation. ( It was first built in the early 80's.) And currently there is an open house for anyone who wants to see what the inside of a temple looks like. Temples are very important to us who are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We have temples all over the world, and once they are dedicated only members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are able to enter, so if you have ever been curious to know what a "Mormon" temple is like, I encourage and invite you to go and see. Here is the link for more information on the open house.
"I have hallowed this house, which thou hast built, to put my name there for ever; and mine eyes and mine heart shall be there perpetually."

...The weather is cool, not cold and the sun is making it's way through the clouds. The laundry is actually progressing. The baby boy is actually napping on schedule and I have some down time to myself. A blessing. I am grateful for days like today. And I am grateful that they aren't every day or every week. I have so much to be grateful for. Simple joys. Simply Grateful.
"The Mother's Mite"
The following is a story made by DeAnne Flynn told at a Time Out For Women in Ogden Utah. I didn't go there but I read about it here. I really liked the story so I thought I would share it with all my fellow mom bloggers.
It is a small take on the story of the widow's mite found in Mark 12:41-44. This is her version:
"And there came a certain weary woman, and she threw in two frozen pizzas, which made a meal. And she said , 'Eat it.' And her husband called their children saying 'our compassionate mother hath put more in the oven than you.' And they accepted of her offereing becasue they knew she had given it to them with all the energy she had left and thus providing for her family. And that very hour was indeed a mother's mite."
DeAnne Flynn goes on to talk about the importance of the little things mothers give admist so much around them. You can read the rest of the article here. She has also announced an initiative to recognize "The Mother's Mite" " as a place online where women can gather to share, to bolster one another's efforts, and to provide creative mothering ideas." This is found at MothersMite.com.

Here is a great link on Religious Freedom and what it is: "People of Faith Should Defend Freedom of Religion"
Elder Dallin H. Oaks, a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, is just the person to be discussing this subject: " Prior to his calling as an apostle in 1984, he served as a justice on the Utah Supreme Court from 1981–1984, as legal counsel to the Illinois Constitutional Convention Bill of Rights Committee in 1970, as a professor at theUniversity of Chicago Law School from 1961–1971, as law clerk to Chief Justice Earl Warren of the United States Supreme Court from 1957 to 1958, and as Editor-in-Chief of The University of Chicago Law Review from 1956–1957. He also served as Chairman of the Board of the Public Broadcasting Service from 1980–1985, as a board member from 1977–1985, and as president of Brigham Young University from 1971–1980."

It's All About Cakes In The BackSeat...
There was a lady who baked and decorated several cakes for a living. One day she had an exceptionally large order that needed to be delivered, so she carefully placed them in the backseat of her van and started driving to her destination. But because there were so many cakes and she didn't want them to get smashed or ruined in any way she drove very slowly so that they wouldn't move while she drove. Well as one could assume would happen as she was driving on the highway, several people became irritated at how slow she was driving and they would pass her in the other lane. While they were passing her some would scream at her to speed up or not go so slow and various other things. At first she just kept driving at the slow speed she knew that she should and tried to ignore them and focus on what she was doing. But eventually she decided that if she rolled down her window she would try to tell them that it was because she had cakes in the backseat. Well as one can imagine, no one could hear her as they were speeding by and making their own comments towards her. Finally, the lady reached her destination and felt horrible that she had had to drive so slowly, she paused for a moment and said to herself " if only they could realize it was because I had cakes in the backseat."
A similar story was told at our recent Stake Conference in November being related to judging others. That most of the time when we are judging others we forget to aknowledge that everyone including oursleves often have "cakes in our backseats." Reasons others do things that we may not know why because we are too busy telling them what to do, when we need to stop and listen to why they are doing the things they are or why they are acting the way they are.
I thought of this story this past sunday. We were talking about President Thomas S. Monson's recent speech to the women at the General Relief Society Meeting.
I'm grateful for the gospel of Jesus Christ that conintually keeps me in check on the little things and brings me great joy by reminding me and teaching me how to continually strive to be better.

Tender Mercies....
The other day I got an email from a past coworker that I had worked with. Her email was just to say hi and comment about the Christmas card we had sent out, but it brought so much more. When I worked at that job she was one who helped me to get through the muck of politics that seemed to often run rampant. I don't know if she ever knew it then but she was what I like to refer to as a " tender mercy" from a loving God. I had to have that job, and it was a blessing to have one, but it was a huge challenge for me and her daily smiles, hellos, and conversations truly helped me take it a day at a time and lifted me. I am grateful for all of the tender mercies I receive on a daily basis.
