Fires of Faith: The coming forth of the King James Bible

For those who may not know, I really love history, especially the history of the Bible. There is a new documentary series airing on BYU TV on the 16th of this month. It will be aired in three parts and is called " Fires of Faith: The Coming Forth of the King James Bible."

"To create this documentary, more than 130 reenactments were filmed in eight countries at many of the actual sites where the original events took place—from a fourth-century monastery in Israel to an 800-year-old English castle to a 500-year-old European church. Commentary by 18 international scholars and religious leaders throughout the film reveal differing perspectives while still confirming that the King James Bible’s influence is immeasurable." The three-part series, Fires of Faith: The Coming Forth of the King James Bible, follows the complex history of the book—the sacrifice of countless people to bring it to pass, its violent beginnings, changes over time, and its influence the world over today. At the forefront of the history is British religious scholar William Tyndale, who was responsible for the original translations that make up more than 80 percent of the Bible’s text."
I am really excited about this! It should very interesting. So for all of you out there like me, who love to read the Bible, this might actually broaden our perspective on it's history.

Time....

I just finished watching this speech by Elder Ian S. Arden from the past General Conference and it has made me reevaluate some things in my life with regards to how I use my time. I have some new goals now, among them are:    My love/hate relationship with Facebook will soon be fixed, my blogs will be updated twice a week, Pinterest will be a once a week thing, and I will be using the phone to talk more than to email or text...so be expecting my pleasant voice soon. So if you are needing to get a hold of me faster than a week's time just give me a ring!

Buying Stock...

I think it would be wise if we bought stock in these:

It's what I seem to be buying a lot lately. It's also a sign that I am living in a house with two men:), growing up with all girls it just wasn't the same in regards to food intake (or at least with regards to these choices:) Chocolate is a whole different story.)

Oh I love early days....

Today and yesterday were early days. What does that mean? It means that Bryan has an earlier work schedule and no class, so he ends up being home by 5pm. How I love these days! Bryan, as of late has been taking our little dude to the park down the road  to play for a half hour- hour while I actually get to ENJOY making dinner:) These days don't come often, maybe 4 times a month, but oh how I love it when they come! 

Hodge Podge

For all of those who live near the Signal Mountain area and you love crafts etc. I highly encourage you to go to Hodge Podge. A good friend of mine will be having a booth there. She makes these really cool purses and much more. She also has an awesome Etsy site. Hodge Podge starts Friday, October 6th through Saturday, October 7th from 10am-5pm. WICKED The Musical New Trailer!!!!!

Anyone know what this is?

For years (literally) I have only hoped to see this musical... and soon very soon I get to!!!! Saturday Bryan is taking me to Atlanta to see "WICKED"!!!!!! I am SOOOOOO excited!!!!! I am and have always been a HUGE musical fan!!! Everyone of my sisters and my parents have seen it at least once. It has come to the south so many times over the past 3 years and every time it came we either couldn't go for scheduling reasons or money reasons.  But now we are! I am trying to memorize the soundtrack to be better prepared:) (Just kidding- right now when riding in the car I am lucky if our little guy lets me not listen to Barney soundtrack:)) So for all those other die hard musical fanatics- this one is for you!

Opportunities to Do Good

The Book of Mormon

Sometimes, while growing up, I often felt  like I didn't always have the right words to share or express correctly what I wanted to say. I still sometimes feel inadequate in my speaking or explanation of things to others. I often felt this way when my dear friends and peers would ask me about the Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Christ- What we as members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints know to be additional scripture- a companion to the Holy Bible.
Elder Tad R. Calister gave an amazing speech on this very subject! Oh what I would have given to have had his words in my mouth when trying to explain what the Book of Mormon is in high school! General Conference...

This past weekend was General Conference for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It is held twice a year in April and in October and is what I consider to be a spiritual feast. During General Conference for our church we have the privilege and opportunity to be taught and encouraged by a living prophet, President Thomas S. Monson and other leaders of the church. It is broadcasted via satelite and internet etc from Salt Lake City, Utah ( Where our Church Headquarters are located). It is a total of 5 sessions in one weekend ( Saturday and Sunday) and each session is 2 hours in length. So for us it is at noon and then 4pm. This is a conference that anyone can watch or participate in, whether Mormon or not:)


There were some amazing speeches given that really made me look inward and helped me know where improvement was needed. Because of a busy toddler:) I wasn't able to focus as much on all the sessions as I have been able to in the past, but thankfully they have them all online to view! I have been trying to watch one or two while I eat lunch and our little guy is down for his afternoon nap and I learn so much each time. I am so grateful for a loving Heavenly Father who continues to speak to prophets in our day. I know that in listening to and watching the speeches given in General Conference, your life will only be blessed.

A second car!!!!

Well the marvelous day has come!!!! After 4 1/2 years of having one car in our little family, we now have a second car!!!! Wahoo!!!! Oh the places we CAN go now.... :) We bought a gently used 2006 Toyota Corolla on Saturday and I can't believe to tell you how wonderful it is that I don't have to take Bryan to and from work just to have a  means of transportation, or to plan all my shopping trips around my mom's schedule. It is a liberating and independent feeling! Now you may think that I am over exaggerating, but if you have ever had to go without a means of transportation for a while then you can understand my excitement. It will make the long days of Bryan's work and class schedules seem like nothing. I can actually run errands on my schedule, and what I love most of all is that it allows me the opportunity to serve others more, because I can actually go and visit them!!! Plus it will make having an always on the go toddler a lot more fun, so that we can actually go to parks to run, instead of always running inside our apartment:) 

I wish I had more to say...

It has been forever since we posted on either blog and the reason is because for some reason I have actually been able to get on TOP on my someday To-Do List, which means the blog took to the back of the line for a while. :) So I apologize to our readers and hope to post something of more value later. But during this time I have been able to almost complete the redecorating of our master bedroom ( hopefully pics to come soon), I have made a few educational toys to help our little dude with his fine motor skills ( nothing is wrong with them:) just trying to fine tune them), I finished crocheting a blanket ( almost 3 years on the list), all of our pictures are updated and dated ( this was a huge feat- but don't even mention scrapbooking), several craft projects completed, Christmas shopping for our little dude is almost complete ( just need pjs and an ornament), and I have transferred almost all of my documents from my college laptop to flash drives ( soon it will see it's last day- they don't even make replacement batteries for it anymore:))
Needless to say I have stayed quite busy:) Bryan is doing wonderfully well in school this semester maintaining high A's. Our little dude hasn't decided if he likes one or two naps in a day yet and I am trying to adjust to that change of events. We hope to buy a second car this weekend( insert Hallelujah Chorus here:)!!!! And the huge event today is that my sister Katelyn turns 18!!!!
All in all we are grateful for each new day we have and the opportunities each day presents us with! I hope to post more sooner than later:)
